Implants can be placed through the lower mammary fold, under the nipple-areola or through an incision within the armpit. They are placed, depending on each case, under the breast (submammary), the pectoral muscle (submuscular), the muscle fascia (subfascial), or in a dual plane.
Implants are filled with highly-cohesive (adherence) silicone gel, covered with a more resistant silicone layer. There is a variety of volumes and designs (height, width, projection, shape and texture), with some advantages and disadvantages. This will be discussed at the implant "try on" test during consultation prior to surgery. Thus, we will achieve breasts that look proportional and harmonious to the body.
This surgery must be performed in an operating room, under local anesthesia and sedation or general anesthesia. You may experience swelling, bruising or mild discomfort following surgery that may be controlled with medication.
A capsular contracture (capsule: tissue produced by the body in response to a foreign body) may develop and, consequently, the breast may become harder and even suffer shape alteration.
Breast augmentation is the most frequent procedure performed, and produces great satisfaction to our patients. During consultation, we will specifically discuss the most convenient option for you.
